Despite a challenging summer for crops, Heathpatch welcomed 250 visitors to its 2026 farm tours, sharing insights into farming, wildlife habitats, conservation projects and renewable energy. Visitors also enjoyed learning about our thriving barn owl population, including the ringing of three healthy chicks and the encouraging sight of young owls flourishing across the estate.

Discover how phacelia flowers are helping improve soil health and biodiversity on our farm. As a cover crop, phacelia reduces compaction, suppresses weeds and returns organic matter to the soil. Known as "Bee's Friend", it also provides valuable nectar and pollen for pollinators. Learn how a chance encounter with local beekeeper Haughley Honey led to hives being placed alongside these vibrant purple fields.

James Buckle, Director at Heathpatch, has been appointed Chair of Inspire Suffolk, the independent charity supporting more than 2,500 children and young people each year. Having founded The Porch Project in Hadleigh and served as an Inspire trustee since 2023, James brings extensive experience and a long-standing commitment to improving opportunities, wellbeing and outcomes for young people across Suffolk.

The Buckle family has launched a community conversation about Bildeston’s future, inviting residents, businesses and local groups to help shape a shared vision for sustainable growth. With increasing pressure for new housing, the initiative aims to ensure any future development protects the village’s character while delivering the homes, infrastructure, services and opportunities needed for future generations.

Heathpatch hosted the CLA East Suffolk AGM at Semer, welcoming over 80 rural business members. The day included updates from CLA CEO Isabella Murfin, a farm tour showcasing conservation and landscape restoration, and a visit to Nedging Hall, highlighting estate-grown produce, hospitality and rural enterprise. A delicious lunch was served by The Crown at Bildeston.

Mental Health Awareness Week highlights the importance of inclusion and connection. We are proud to support The Befriending Scheme, a local charity helping vulnerable adults facing loneliness and mental health challenges. Through befriending, community hubs and the Red Rose Community Farm at Lindsey Tye, they provide opportunities to build friendships, develop skills and improve wellbeing in a safe, supportive environment.

For today's look at Mental Health Awareness Week, we want to highlight a local organisation, Inspire's Porch Project, doing vital work to support the wellbeing of young people in our community. Based in Hadleigh, Suffolk, they provide a safe space for young people to build confidence, learn new skills and feel supported.

To mark Mental Health Awareness Week, we invited local visitors to explore Raydon Great Wood in Suffolk with our woodsmen and ecologist. Discover how nearly 30 years of woodland restoration, coppicing and pond management have transformed this ancient wood into a thriving haven for wildlife, biodiversity and wellbeing.
