Despite a challenging summer for crops, Heathpatch welcomed 250 visitors to its 2026 farm tours, sharing insights into farming, wildlife habitats, conservation projects and renewable energy. Visitors also enjoyed learning about our thriving barn owl population, including the ringing of three healthy chicks and the encouraging sight of young owls flourishing across the estate.

Discover how phacelia flowers are helping improve soil health and biodiversity on our farm. As a cover crop, phacelia reduces compaction, suppresses weeds and returns organic matter to the soil. Known as "Bee's Friend", it also provides valuable nectar and pollen for pollinators. James Buckle, Director at Heathpatch, has been appointed Chair of Inspire Suffolk, the independent charity supporting more than 2,500 children and young people each year. Having founded The Porch Project in Hadleigh and served as an Inspire trustee since 2023, James brings extensive experience and a long-standing commitment to improving opportunities, wellbeing and outcomes for young people across Suffolk.
