Last year The Crown was added to The Good Food Guide 2025, one of the UK's most respected restaurant guides. The guide described the pub as offering "the complete package" and praised its seasonal cooking and welcoming setting.

We’re hoping that The Crown will once again be listed in The Good Food Guide, with nominations currently open for the 2026 edition.  If you’ve had the pleasure of dining at our much-loved village hostelry, now is your chance to share your appreciation.  Nominations close at midnight on Thursday, 13th August so please take a minute to give The Crown your vote.  Just enough time to get your vote in here:

We were delighted to see The Crown, Bildeston, featured in a recent review by The Field magazine, one of Britain's best-known country lifestyle publications.  We were pleased to see them highlight the pub's unique character, estate-to-plate dining and connection to the Suffolk countryside. Describing The Crown as: "A haven for the sportsman and as worthy of a dedicated weekend pilgrimage from afar as it is a post-work pint or Sunday roast for locals", the review praised the atmosphere of the 15th-century inn, its locally sourced food and its close links to Nedging Hall, where much of the produce served in the kitchen is grown. While we are very proud of this latest recognition, it is far from the first time The Crown has attracted attention.  Over the past few years, the pub, restaurant and rooms have received a growing number of accolades that reflect the hard work of the entire team and the success of its estate-to-plate approach.

Also in 2025, The Crown was named Best Pub/Restaurant at the national Eat Game Awards, recognising its commitment to showcasing sustainably sourced British game and the provenance of ingredients supplied from Nedging Hall Estate.

Further recognition has come from within the hospitality industry, with The Crown being named Velvet Magazine Suffolk Pub of the Year 2025, and incredibly also being a runner up in 2026.

The Crown has also been recognised for its wider contribution to sustainability. In 2024 it received the East Anglian Daily Times Sustainability and Environmental Business of the Year Award 2024, acknowledging the work being done to reduce food miles and strengthen the connection between the estate, the gardens and the kitchen. No small feat for a hospitality company.

The Crown’s very talented Executive Chef, Greig Young, was a finalist for Chef of the Year in last year’s Suffolk Magazine Food & Drink Awards.

The restaurant has also continued to receive strong guest feedback, earning Tripadvisor's Travellers' Choice Award 2025, given to businesses ranked among the top-rated hospitality venues worldwide by customer reviews.

For us, this recognition is a welcome endorsement of a simple philosophy of combining exceptional local produce, much of it sourced from Nedging Hall Estate, with warm hospitality and comfortable accommodation. Of course, it is also due in no small part to our wonderful team who work together to create the
