It's been a long summer for our team at Brett Vale Farming. Early mornings and late nights to get the harvest in when they can.
Oil seed rape was the first to test our combines.
Then the barley, some of which will find its way to Mauldons Brewery and ultimately into your glasses at The Bildeston Crown, The Lindsey Rose, The Brewery Tap and other pubs in the area. If your local doesn't stock Mauldons, ask for it!
Finally, the wheat harvest has made it into the grain stores. The combines are being cleaned and put away for another year.
It's no secret that the yields are down this year but luckily we've had enough good weather to get the best from the fields. This can be demoralising for the farmers who have toiled all year to get to this point, but there is no-one to blame but the great British weather.
Heathpatch would like to say a very big thank you to everyone at Brett Vale Farming, who, as usual, have gone above and beyond, working very hard for long days. Thank you to Olly, Martin, Nick, Rob, James and Harry.
And very many thanks to Farm Manager, Olly, for the superb photos!
