Spring & Summer 2026
Farm & Woodland Tours

Aerial view of Dairy Road, Semer

Hello Neighbours and Friends,

I'm excited to extend a personal invitation to you all from myself and all at Heathpatch.

We're pleased to announce that we'll once again be offering farm tours to our local community. It's an opportunity for you to discover how we operate, and witness first-hand the environmental activities which we're deeply committed to.

Hop aboard our tractor and trailer for an immersive experience through our local area. I will take you around our fields and woodland, where you'll learn about the hard work of our dedicated team and volunteers.  Hopefully, you'll gain insights into how our collective efforts benefit the countryside.

Before the summer farm tours, we will also be holding our second walking tour of Raydon Great Wood on the 6th May.

I look forward to sharing my passion for farming, conservation and Suffolk with you.

                                                                      Yours,

                                                                     James Buckle

The Heathpatch estate extends across more than 4,000 acres of the beautiful Suffolk countryside on the north side of Hadleigh, incorporating productive arable fields, grassland and woodland.  The tractor tours take in the current activities of the farm and we try to vary the routes each year.

The guided walking tour of Raydon Great Wood to the south of Hadleigh takes in part of the 200-acre ancient woodland. It has been a labour of love for all involved since it came into the Heathpatch family in 1998. At that time, the wildlife seemed to have moved out, following the clear-felling of many parts and the restocking with non-native conifers, hybrid poplars, red oak and sycamore by the previous owners.  The vision was to restore the wood to as close to ancient woodland as possible. Following nearly 3 decades of incredible hard work, amazing results have been achieved. A wonderful selection of wildlife and plant life have returned to the wood. Many species of flora and fauna have taken up residence again in Raydon Great Wood.
