Mental Health Awareness Week is an opportunity to reflect on what helps people feel supported, valued and motivated at work. One of the simplest and most powerful factors is recognition.

When people feel that their contribution matters, it strengthens confidence, builds connection and supports overall wellbeing. Recognition is not only about individual praise, it is also about the success of the businesses our people help to build every day.

We are therefore especially proud to share that three of the businesses within Nedging Hall Estate have been named as finalists in the Muddy Stilettos Suffolk & Cambridgeshire region Awards.

Muddy Stilettos is a well-regarded lifestyle platform that champions outstanding independent businesses across the UK, particularly those that bring character and quality to local communities. Its annual awards are based on public nominations and voting, making them a genuine reflection of customer appreciation and local support.

Introducing our finalists:

Mauldons Brewery – 'Best Artisan Food and Drink Producer'

Mauldons is Suffolk’s oldest brewery, based in Sudbury since 1795, and its longevity is a testament to the people who have sustained it over generations. At the heart of that story is its Head Brewer, Steve, who has dedicated nearly 45 years to the business and overseen the brewing of more than 25 million pints. Steve says, "I’m excited to keep pushing the boundaries with new brews, while staying true to the traditional techniques that make Mauldons’ beers what they are." This depth of skill and commitment runs through the entire team, and makes Mauldons such a deserving finalist.

The Crown at Bildeston – 'Best Loved Local Pub'

The Crown at Bildeston is defined by its people, whose warmth, professionalism and genuine care create the atmosphere guests return to. We applaud the whole team for their attention to detail, pride in what they do and ability to make everyone feel welcome. They transform it from simply a place to eat and drink into a place where people feel looked after, recognised and at ease, making this recognition a reflection of those who bring it to life every day. The Muddy Stiletto's own review in 2024 commented, "all the staff we encountered knew their stuff and seemed proud to work in such a well-known foodie destination." https://suffolkcambs.muddystilettos.co.uk/travel/review-the-crown-bildeston/

Nedging Hall – 'Best Boutique Stay'

Nedging Hall, standing proud in its beautiful corner of Suffolk, is brought to life by the people who care for it every day. The beautifully maintained gardens are a reflection of the dedication and pride of the gardening team. Alongside them, the maintenance team quietly ensures that everything inside looks amazing and runs smoothly, allowing guests to relax without a second thought. Not to mention the reservations manager, designers and decorators. It is this collective care, attention and pride in the detail that elevates a stay at Nedging Hall into something truly special, and makes this recognition so well deserved.

Being shortlisted brings welcome visibility, but it also reinforces something deeper. When a business is recognised, every member of the team can see the impact of their own effort. That sense of shared achievement builds pride, encourages collaboration and supports positive mental wellbeing across the workplace.

At a time when Mental Health Awareness Week calls us to consider how we support one another, this is a timely reminder that success is rarely individual. It is collective. Recognition flows down as well as up, and it matters at every level.

We are grateful to all the teams who make these businesses what they are, and we congratulate them on this well-earned recognition. If you would like to support them, you can cast your vote here:
