We are delighted to welcome Shredding Machinery Solutions Ltd to the Heathpatch Group of companies.  Based in Grantham in Lincolnshire, Shredding Machinery Solutions (SMS) are breathing new life into confidential shredding equipment, helping customers extend the working life of their machines and reduce capital expenditure.

The business is headed up by Peter Banks, a familiar face to many of us.  Peter previously worked with us at Global Machinery Solutions and brings with him many years of experience in the shredding and recycling sector.  His hands-on knowledge and practical insight have helped shape the SMS ethos: straight-talking advice, quality machinery and after-sales support you can count on – just like we’re already used to at Global.

At the heart of the business is the Remanufacture & Repurpose Programme.  Shredding Machinery Solutions offers a tailored alternative to the considerable cost of a new machine.  This initiative is designed to extend the life of mobile shredding units by rebuilding and upgrading key systems, while carefully repurposing core components.  Whether customers are sourcing a refurbished shredding truck from SMS stock or want to modernise a vehicle from their own fleet, the result is a high-quality machine that delivers the reliability, power and compliance of a new unit, but at a substantially lower cost.

Each remanufacture is tailored to the customer’s needs and begins with a new chassis.  A new body is built and painted to the customer’s specifications, while the shredding chamber can be fully rebuilt as an option.  When this is undertaken, critical wear components such as shafts, knives, bearings, seals, and pinion gears are replaced as standard to ensure performance and longevity.

In addition, customers have the flexibility to refurbish or replace components that are more likely to fail over time, such as PTOs, hydraulic pumps and motors, walking floor cylinder packs and wiring looms.  This approach allows each build to be configured around budget and operational priorities, without compromising reliability. By combining new and repurposed elements, SMS delivers faster turnaround times compared to many new-build options, while also helping customers reduce capital expenditure and minimise their carbon footprint.

Every remanufactured machine is supplied with a two-year warranty, giving customers peace of mind that they are investing in reliable equipment that will stand the test of time.  Their Aftersales and Parts Shop team promises to “focus 100% on service, reliability and product improvements.”

Sustainability is a core aim of our Heathpatch Group.  By helping companies reduce bulk, process recyclables and destroy sensitive material securely, SMS is following this ethos and contributing to greener, safer practices across multiple industries.

As part of the Heathpatch Group, Shredding Machinery Solutions is well placed to grow and develop their business.  Peter and his team will continue to operate independently while benefiting from the strength, reach and shared values of the Heathpatch Group as a whole.  Their technical know-how and practical approach will bring new capability into our portfolio and open up exciting opportunities in the recycling sector.

We look forward to supporting the next phase of the SMS journey.  As always, our goal is to build businesses that are not only commercially successful, but rooted in integrity, innovation and service.
